SENIOR SUPPORT OFFICER, DUNDEE SURVIVAL GROUP,  

Full time Permanent,35 hours/ week,

SALARY: £24968 (unqualified) to £26259 (qualified) pa (pay review April 2024)

37 Days Annual Leave PH inclusive.  

Work based Pension 6% Employer contribution.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills to join our small team of Senior Support Officers. This is a good opportunity for people already in the care sector or people with relevant qualifications to move into a supervisory role.

The successful applicant will supervise Support Officers and help manage housing support to residents. The aim is to provide housing support to prepare service users to move on to sustain their own accommodation. Training will be provided.

You will have experience of working with people who have been homeless, including some knowledge of people affected by substance misuse.

You will also have experience managing and supervising staff to achieve positive outcomes for service users and DSG.  

The successful applicant will have:

  • · SVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a related field  
  • · SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 9 (willing to work towards, we will provide financial support) or equivalent
  • · Have a comprehensive knowledge of Homelessness and complex needs
  • · Be enthusiastic, motivated and able to communicate in an empathic way with people who may present with challenging support needs and behaviours
  • · Have good organisational and management skills
  • · Experience of supervising staff
  • · Flexible to deliver our services to service users
  • · Excellent computer skills, data handling electronically and in written form
  • · Require a PVA Disclosure check and SSSC Registration.

The successful candidate will be required to work 5 day shifts 35 hours per week within the accommodation unit. Some weekend work and On- call on a rota.

Service User Engagement worker, Dundee Survival Group (DSG).

One day/ 7 hours a week, Sessional work at £11.50/ hour, also volunteer posts available.  

DSG provide supported accommodation to 24 people who have experienced homelessness.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individuals with good communication skills to work with our service users who have experienced homelessness. This is a good opportunity for people who may have experience of homelessness or similar lived experience. Equally this post may be suitable for a student seeking work experience in the 3rd Sector.  

We will also consider candidates who wish to volunteer, helping to form a team to work with our service users. The post is similar to youth work but seeks to work with around 20 service users aged over 18.

The aim of the post is to provide regular planned activities determined by our service users. Helping to build confidence and positive experiences that help service users move away from homelessness.

In the past we have organised recreational activities; cooking classes, art workshops, computer training and local trips. We have partnerships with other organisations such as Street Soccer and wish to develop these ties further.
